Thus, the Designated Agent plays a very important preventative role in avoiding and settling unnecessary disputes at the workplace.

- 03
Conflict Resolution

Dispute settlement through conciliation and issuing rulings. The Designated Agent is empowered to redress disputes in the food industry by section 63 of the Labour Act. Section 63(b) of the Labour Act, where a Designated Agent is authorized to redress any dispute or unfair labour practice in terms of subsection (3a), no labour officer shall have jurisdiction in the matter.

National Employment Council sets the minimum conditions of service in the food industry to ensure that employees earn a salary that can sustain their livelihoods taking into account the affordability of the company and general level of the wages in the food industry.

- 05

Providing training to workers committees and works councils to companies in the food industries.

- 06
standard implementation

Ensuring that there is the same standard in terms of conditions of employment in the food industry.

- 07

The NEC plays a very important role in granting the exemption thus helping companies not to waste time unnecessary litigation with their employees.
